Text Box: When school and families work together to support learning, students benefit through increased self-esteem, better attendance and positive attitudes. As well, research shows that students do much better in school when their parents are actively involved in their education. At Jamaica Village School, we provide multiple opportunities for involvement, but one of the best ways to be involved is to communicate with your child(ren) on a daily basis about school, what they are learning, as well as areas of strength and areas of challenge.

Text Box: The more you know about your child’s routine at school and topics themes/units that are studied, the more specific your questions can be.
Another terrific way to be involved is to communicate with your child(ren)’s teacher(s). Whether it be via phone, email or in person, reaching out to ask questions, clarify assignments, get feedback regarding your child(ren)’s academic and social skills, or problem solve, we are committed to ensuring communication between the home and the school is open and positive, and always supportive of students.

Text Box: Volunteer! We would love to have you become a Vermont Reading Partner. Training is free and the rewards are endless – all it takes is an hour a week! We also have parent volunteers in our classrooms, in our library and behind the scenes. Ask your child(ren)’s teacher how you can help raise student achievement through volunteerism.
